Semi-Detached Houses
Semi-detached housing is more affordable because of the smaller lot area as result of its sharing it with another similarly-designed house on the same lot. In effect, the two houses split the lot area into two. It is as if a giant saw was used to cut a portion of a row house or terraced housing and cut a portion of it consisting of two housing units and put it somewhere else. The similarity of design is there with the exception that a semi-detached house has an additional side of open ground space in additional to the front and back.

Window House
This house architecture is particularly prevalent in England, Ireland and Canada as a direct response to rapid population growth in some urban areas. This new development created the trend towards suburbs and for the middle class, a serious attempt at gentrification. At any rate, the semi-detached home offered the benefits of country living (or a semblance of it) within driving distance to the city centre itself.
